Minangkabau Culture

Crowds called Minangkabau tribe called the Padang. In fact, Padang is one of the cities in West Sumatra that residents do not necessarily Minang people. Minangkabau tribe consists of clans or clan, namely Vases, Tuft, Piliang, Cape, Koto, Panjalai, Banana, and Beetles.

Kinship system

Kinship system taking into account the Minang community relations according to matrilineal descent, or the so-called matrilineal.

Some features of matrilineal are as follows:

Unity family in Minangkabau society consists of three types of family unity, namely:

a. Paruik
b. Kampuang
c. Interest

Minangkabau society knows no dowry, but knowing the money pool, which is giving some money and goods to the family of the bridegroom. After the marriage ceremony at the bride's house, the husband stay at home wife.

Religions

Most of the Minang people of religion Islam. Oelh because it reflects almost all of his life Islamic culture. And only a small portion of them especially those living in rural areas still believe in spirits.
